Seeing Print in 2013

Hey, It’s Already Happening!

Here’s the first of my work to see print in 2013:

Tim accepted my lengthy reviews of Yûreisen: Zempen, Yûreisen: Kôhen, Hell Island, Raw Meat, and a long article on Oily Comics (all amply illustrated), and I’m already getting some stuff to Tim for Weng’s Chop #3.

Alternate Weng’s Chop #2 cover art ©2012 David “DB3″ Barnes.

I also just today received my copy of Robyn Chapman‘s brand-spanking-new DRAWING COMICS LAB: 52 Exercises on Characters, Panels, Storytelling, Publishing & Professional Practices, of which I am a wee part.

Robyn Chapman was a long-time fellow faculty member at the Center for Cartoon Studies (we miss you, Robyn!) and our first-ever Fellow (way back in 2005), and a hell of a cartoonist/writer/editor/teacher.

I’d have run a bigger image of the book cover, if I had one. This is a great book, and I’m proud as punch to be part of it.

Recommended, and this makes my second published work in 2013, and it’s only January 3rd!

So. There ya go.

Congratulations on your new publications—you’ve already set the bar high for 2013. And thanks for the update for Robyn’s book; until recently the amazon site has been showing it as “ships in 3 to 4 weeks” which usually means either that no one knows the bound book date or that a distribution deal is not in place. Thanks to your note, I just ordered my copy, leaving only three in stock at amazon.

Amazon.com can be quite maddening when you’re on the other side. A slow-selling item, they may only keep a few in stock, and then order a new one from you EACH time a single one sells. Meaning, you have to pay for shipping & postage for EACH individual item, instead of being able to send them a pile at once.
